Five years after Michael’s passing, Samantha’s life took an unexpected turn on Christmas morning. Her son, Daniel, handed her a box—a gift from Michael that would change everything.
Since Michael’s death, Samantha had worked two jobs to support Daniel. The absence of Michael, her partner and best friend, was a constant ache. Yet, despite the struggles, their bond had only grown stronger.
Michael had always believed in kindness. He’d help anyone—whether fixing a neighbor’s fence or offering a listening ear—and would say, “Kindness always comes back around.”
On this Christmas, Samantha had saved for months to buy Daniel a phone. His joy when he opened it made every sacrifice worthwhile. “It’s perfect,” he said, hugging her tightly.
Then Daniel handed her a small box. Inside was a back massager he’d bought for her relaxation. After a pause, he pulled out an older, worn cigar box. “This is from Dad. He gave it to me five years ago to give to you today.”
Samantha’s heart raced as she opened it. Inside was a note from Michael and a bank card.
