My sister-in-law, Candice, had always had a strong sense of entitlement, but nothing could have prepared me for her most surprising request—she wanted me to have a baby just so she could raise it as her own. My husband, Harry, and I had been happily married for seven years, together for nearly fifteen, and we cherished our two wonderful children, Maya and Luke. Our little family meant everything to me, but navigating our extended family wasn’t always easy. From the day I met my mother-in-law, Charlotte, and Candice, I sensed challenges ahead. I initially dismissed my concerns, but over time, their actions proved just how complicated things could get.

Before our wedding, Candice made it clear that she preferred to be the center of attention.
