I Let My Husbands Best Friend Have Her Wedding on Our Property, but She Suddenly Uninvited Me the Day Before

My husband’s best friend wanted the perfect wedding venue—and chose our property. I was more than happy to let her celebrate her big day at our home, free of charge. I spent months helping with decorations, coordinating vendors, and even tasting and selecting the cake. However, the day before the wedding, she made an unexpected decision that left me stunned.

As I stood in our backyard, admiring the elegant setup—rows of white chairs beneath a sprawling oak tree with rolling hills and a sparkling lake in the background—I felt proud of what we had accomplished. My husband, Peter, came up behind me, wrapped his arms around my waist, and said, “It looks amazing, Evelyn. Nancy’s going to love it.” I smiled, hoping he was right. I had dedicated months to ensuring everything was perfect.

Soon, Nancy and her fiancé, Josh, arrived. I greeted them warmly, but Nancy seemed tense. Instead of sharing in the excitement, she immediately criticized the seating arrangement, noting it wasn’t in the semicircular style she wanted. Then she pointed out that the flowers were not the exact shade she had envisioned. I checked my messages for any previous instructions, but there were none.

Before I could process her dissatisfaction, Nancy pulled me aside. Her expression was serious as she said, “We need to talk.” Then, to my shock, she told me, “I don’t want you at the wedding tomorrow.” Confused, I asked why. With a dismissive wave, she said, “Why didn’t anyone tell me you and Josh dated in college?”

Her words left me speechless. Josh and I had a brief and insignificant relationship years ago—long before he met Nancy. I tried to explain, “That was a short-lived college thing. It was never serious.” But Nancy was unmoved. “I don’t want any reminders of his past relationships on my wedding day,” she insisted.
