Amid broader staff restructuring at ABC, including recent layoffs, sources say the show’s co-hosts—Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and Ana Navarro—have been encouraged to approach political discussions, particularly those involving former President Donald Trump, with added nuance. The guidance reportedly came from executive producer Brian Teta ahead of the 47th president’s upcoming inauguration.
Despite drawing in 2.6 million viewers over the past month, the internal mood at The View remains tense. At least nine team members, including long-time producers, were let go in recent weeks as part of Disney’s broader cost-cutting efforts that began last fall. One source described the atmosphere as “uncertain,” noting that remaining staff are concerned about possible future layoffs.
