The cool fluorescent lights cast a pale glow over Terminal D of Otopeni Airport. Officer Andrei Popescu walked his usual patrol, eyes trained on the ebb and flow of travelers. At his side trotted Luna, a disciplined and loyal German Shepherd with sharp instincts and a gleaming coat. For three years, they had worked side by side without a single misstep.

Andrei scanned the crowd as always—faces, body language, movement. But this night would be unlike any other.

Suddenly, Luna stopped. Her ears perked up, tail held rigid, nose twitching with sharp concentration. Her gaze locked on a woman pushing a stroller draped in a soft blue blanket. Without warning, Luna let out a low growl—something she had never done on duty.

Andrei’s attention snapped to the woman. She looked exhausted, her eyes puffy, her steps uneven. Her hands gripped the stroller tightly. When Luna didn’t respond to a command to stand down, Andrei knew something was wrong.

Then, in a swift motion, Luna lunged—not aggressively, but with firm intent—at the stroller. The blue blanket shifted, and instead of a sleeping baby, something entirely unexpected came into view.
