Beloved celebrity chef and television personality Anne Burrell has sadly passed away at the age of 55. The news of her sudden passing was confirmed on June 17, 2025, when she was found unresponsive in her Brooklyn home.
Burrell was best known for her vibrant personality, signature spiky blond hair, and her inspiring presence on Food Network programs such as Worst Cooks in America, Secrets of a Restaurant Chef, and Iron Chef America. She dedicated her career to making cooking accessible, fun, and welcoming for all.
According to sources close to her, Anne had been in high spirits the night before. She had just completed an improv comedy course and participated in a performance at The Second City in Brooklyn. Friends and audience members described her as joyful, energetic, and full of life, with one attendee sharing that “she was having a blast.”
Emergency responders were called to her residence early on the morning of June 17. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. While the official cause of death has not yet been released, emergency calls referenced a possible cardiac event, according to reports. Burrell’s husband, Stuart Claxton, whom she married in 2021, was reportedly home at the time. The two had met on a dating app in 2018 and quickly formed a strong, lasting bond. They married in her hometown of Cazenovia, New York, surrounded by friends, family, and colleagues from the culinary world.
