Speculation is mounting online after a video from a Coldplay concert in Massachusetts on July 16 unexpectedly thrust former Astronomer CEO Andy Byron into the national spotlight—for reasons he likely didn’t anticipate.
The now-viral clip, captured during the show and broadcast on the venue’s large screen, shows Byron in an intimate moment with employee Kristen Cabot. The interaction, widely shared on TikTok and other social media platforms, sparked a wave of public scrutiny and criticism, ultimately leading to Byron’s resignation from his role as CEO of the data-focused tech company.
In a statement posted shortly after the incident gained traction, Astronomer addressed the matter directly:
“As stated previously, Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met.”
The company confirmed that Byron had voluntarily stepped down from his position and that the board had accepted his resignation. Astronomer co-founder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy has since stepped in as interim CEO while the search for a permanent replacement begins.
