Throughout his life, Ozzy often joked about how he envisioned his own send-off. In interviews, he mentioned everything from Beatles classics like A Day in the Life to playful musical mashups featuring unexpected artists. His goal? To avoid what he called a “mope-fest.” In typical Ozzy fashion, he even suggested a pre-recorded video of himself joking from beyond the grave, asking for “a second opinion” after the coffin closed—proof that his humor was as timeless as his music.
In a 2011 interview with The Times, Ozzy said he hoped his funeral would reflect appreciation, not sorrow. “We’re very lucky,” he shared, referring to his life in music, adding that he wanted people to walk away smiling. He doubled down in a 2016 NME article, revealing his dream playlist—filled not with his own hits, but with songs from Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and Revolver. His reasoning? “I never play my own stuff,” he admitted. The Beatles, he said, had always been his soundtrack.
