A federal judge who has played a significant role in issuing nationwide injunctions affecting immigration policy is now facing a formal complaint filed by the U.S. Department of Justice.
The complaint, submitted by U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, concerns Chief U.S. District Judge James Boasberg of the District of Columbia. It alleges that Judge Boasberg made comments that could be perceived as compromising his impartiality in cases involving the Trump administration.
Specifically, the complaint refers to remarks in which Judge Boasberg reportedly warned of a potential “constitutional crisis” if executive actions were to disregard federal court rulings. These comments were reportedly made in a private discussion during a recent Judicial Conference meeting in Washington, D.C.
Attorney General Bondi stated, “Today at my direction, the Justice Department filed a misconduct complaint against U.S. District Court Chief Judge James Boasberg for making improper public comments about President Trump and his administration. These comments have compromised the integrity of the judiciary, and we will not tolerate that.”
