1. A 50th Anniversary Hug with a Twist

An elderly couple was on a flight to Hawaii, excited for a two-week vacation to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. Suddenly, the captain’s voice came over the intercom:

“Ladies and gentlemen, I’m afraid we have some very bad news. Our engines have stopped working, and we will attempt an emergency landing. Fortunately, I see an uncharted island below us. We should be able to land on the beach, but it’s possible we may never be rescued and could live here indefinitely.”

Thanks to the skill of the crew, the plane landed safely on the island. Shaken but unharmed, the husband turned to his wife and asked nervously, “Did we pay our credit card bill yet?”

“Oh no! I forgot to send it,” she admitted.

“And the medical bill from last month?” he asked.

“I’m so sorry, sweetheart. That one wasn’t sent either,” she said.

The husband smiled, hugged his wife tightly—the biggest hug in their 50 years together—and she pulled away, puzzled.

“What was that hug for?” she asked.

“They’ll find us!” he replied.

A clever reminder that sometimes life’s near-misses give us a chance to appreciate the little victories—and the people we love most.
