Trump Confirms Arrest of a Suspect
On Friday morning, during an appearance on Fox & Friends, former President Donald Trump confirmed that a suspect had been taken into custody in connection with the fatal shooting. Multiple outlets have since identified the suspect as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson of Utah, citing law enforcement sources.
“I think with a high degree of certainty we have him in custody,” Trump said, adding that it was “someone very close” to the suspect who helped authorities locate him.
Trump also expressed his condolences for Kirk, calling him “the finest person” and saying he hoped justice would be delivered to the fullest extent of the law. The loss struck a personal chord with the former president, who himself survived two assassination attempts last year.
