Donald and Melania Trump are set to arrive in the UK on Wednesday for their second state visit as President and First Lady of the United States. But while the couple embarks on their overseas commitments, their youngest son, Barron, will remain in Washington, where he has recently begun his sophomore year at New York University’s Stern School of Business.
Now 19, Barron has taken his first steps toward independence, moving from New York to Washington to continue his studies at NYU’s DC campus. However, according to reports, his mother Melania remains deeply focused on her son’s well-being, even as he adjusts to life away from home.
A Protective Mother
From the moment Barron was born, Melania Trump dedicated herself to shielding him from the spotlight. Growing up in Trump Tower, Barron’s early years were carefully guarded from media attention. That commitment only intensified when Donald Trump assumed the presidency, as Melania made it her mission to protect her son from unnecessary scrutiny and outside pressures.
Speaking in a past interview, Melania acknowledged the challenges her son faces in leading anything resembling a “normal” college life. “I don’t think it’s possible for him to be a normal student. His experience at college — it’s very different than any other kid,” she explained, while also praising Barron as strong and mature enough to handle the unique circumstances of his life.
