The two men, whose relationship has seen ups and downs in recent years, appeared to share a brief but meaningful exchange that sparked widespread speculation.

A Divided Tone at the Memorial

The event brought tens of thousands together to honor the late 31-year-old political influencer. Kirk, a strong supporter of Trump, was tragically killed in Utah, and his memorial service drew members of Trump’s cabinet, family, and allies.

His widow, Erika Kirk, delivered one of the most heartfelt moments of the day, offering forgiveness to her husband’s killer. “The answer to hate is not hate,” she said through tears. “The answer we know from the gospel is love—love for our enemies and love for those who persecute us.”

But when Donald Trump took the stage, the tone shifted. While praising Kirk as a “great American hero” and “a martyr for freedom,” the former president also shared his own unfiltered perspective. “He did not hate his opponents. He wanted the best for them. That’s where I disagreed with Charlie. I hate my opponents, and I don’t want the best for them. I’m sorry,” Trump said, turning to Erika.
