More than 90,000 people filled State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, to honor the life of Charlie Kirk — and in the middle of the service, his widow, Erika, made one quiet yet powerful gesture that left the crowd in awe.
A Tribute That Spoke Without Words
Earlier this month, the conservative activist and Turning Point USA founder was tragically killed while speaking at Utah Valley University. He was just 31, leaving behind his wife, Erika, and their two young children.
At his memorial, attended by President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Elon Musk, and tens of thousands of supporters, Erika stepped to the podium. While delivering her tribute, she raised her left hand, extended her thumb, index finger, and pinky, and pointed upward.
The meaning? In American Sign Language, it was a simple but profound message: “I love you.” By lifting her hand toward the sky, Erika symbolically sent that message to her late husband in heaven.
Forgiveness Amid Grief
Her gesture wasn’t the only moment that stunned the audience. Erika also addressed the accused shooter, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, and said she had chosen forgiveness.
