Washington, D.C. — Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is raising the alarm about what he calls a “dangerous” escalation in American politics, warning that increasing hostility toward former President Donald Trump could threaten the country far beyond partisan disputes.
In a recent Fox News interview, Gingrich criticized Democrats for what he described as “toxic rhetoric” and “extreme tactics,” arguing that political debate has shifted from problem-solving to stoking division.
“You have a hard-line group who believe they can intimidate and harass political opponents,” Gingrich said. “That’s not democracy — that’s chaos. The solution is simple: enforce the law equally for everyone.”
At 81, Gingrich drew comparisons between today’s climate and the country’s most turbulent eras, asking whether a nation “conceived in liberty and dedicated to equality” can survive such internal strife.
Escalating Political Tensions
Gingrich’s warning comes amid heightened partisan conflict. Democrats have launched investigations into Trump’s administration over alleged misuse of power, while Republicans accuse them of weaponizing oversight to delegitimize the former president.
