The Setup
“I always knew my sister Ivy was the favorite,” she admits. Even now, as adults with families of their own, she feels overlooked during family dinners. “I’m always the afterthought, even when I arrive first,” she says.
Things came to a head when their parents brought up inheritance plans. They told her Ivy would receive her share early to help with her divorce. On paper, she understood — Ivy’s marriage was falling apart, and extra support seemed reasonable.
The Shock
