Donald and Melania Trump aren’t known for public affection, but last week the couple surprised everyone. Not only did they share a kiss on stage, but the official White House X account posted a photo of them holding hands. Instead of calming speculation about their marriage, the post ignited a full-blown social media storm — with critics calling the display “the worst attempt at damage control” they’d ever seen.
For years, the Trump marriage has drawn intense scrutiny. Reports of strain have circulated repeatedly, including claims from Trump biographer Michael Wolff that Melania “hates” her husband. A New York Times report from May 2025 added fuel to the fire when it revealed that Melania had spent only 14 days at the White House since the administration’s January move-in.
But the last week has looked very different.
During the November 13 signing of the “Fostering the Future for American Children and Families” executive order, Donald and Melania were photographed sharing a kiss after the First Lady delivered her speech to an enthusiastic ovation. Trump praised her openly on stage, saying, “Our country is truly blessed to have this magnificent and very caring First Lady.”
The White House quickly shared a photo of the kiss with the caption, “I can’t help falling in love with you.” Two days later, another photo appeared — this time showing the pair holding hands — labeled, “America’s power couple.”
