Australian actress Rachael Carpani, best known for her roles in McLeod’s Daughters and NCIS: Los Angeles, has passed away at the age of 45, her family has confirmed. The actress died unexpectedly but peacefully following a long battle with a chronic illness.
The heartbreaking news was shared on Monday, December 15, by Carpani’s sister, Georgia, who released a statement on behalf of the family.
“It is with great sadness that Tony and Gael Carpani announce that their beautiful daughter, beloved Australian actress Rachael Carpani, unexpectedly but peacefully passed away after a long battle with chronic illness in the early hours of Sunday, December 7,” the statement read.
The family added that a private funeral will be held on Friday, December 19, attended only by close family and friends, and requested privacy as they grieve.
A Career Spanning Australia and Hollywood
Born in Sydney, Rachael Carpani rose to prominence as Jodi Fountain on the long-running Australian drama McLeod’s Daughters, appearing on the series from 2001 to 2009. Her performance made her a fan favorite and cemented her place in Australian television history.
She later transitioned to U.S. television and film, earning credits in NCIS: Los Angeles, Against the Wall, If There Be Thorns, and The Glades. In 2009, she also appeared alongside Liam Hemsworth in the thriller Triangle.
