Nick Reiner could face the most severe legal consequences if prosecutors succeed in their case involving the deaths of his parents, acclaimed filmmaker Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner.
Recently released surveillance footage has added a new layer to the investigation, capturing what authorities say were Nick Reiner’s final moments before his arrest.
Arrest follows shocking discovery
According to law enforcement sources, the 32-year-old has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths, which were discovered on Sunday, December 14, at the family’s Brentwood, California home.
Investigators allege that the couple had been deceased for several hours before being found by their daughter, Romy Reiner, later that afternoon. Officials reportedly noted signs consistent with an extended period of time having passed before discovery.
The day before, on Saturday, December 13, Nick Reiner was reportedly seen at a holiday gathering hosted by Conan O’Brien. Sources later claimed he had been involved in a tense exchange with his father during the event and appeared distressed. Those accounts have not been independently confirmed, and authorities have not publicly detailed what occurred after the party.
