Texas Plains— A routine traffic stop turned into a dramatic rescue this week when Deputy Ryan Miller of the Texas Highway Patrol, along with his Belgian Malinois, Duke, uncovered multiple people hidden in a hay-laden pickup on Highway 80.
The incident occurred on a quiet stretch of the highway, where Miller noticed a blue flatbed truck carrying an unusually heavy load. “Something about the way the tires were pressed down and how the driver avoided mirrors just didn’t feel right,” Miller said.
