The Phantom Power Problem
Many electronics draw power even when switched off. This is called standby power, or a “phantom load.” TVs, gaming consoles, microwaves with clocks, coffee makers, phone chargers, smart speakers, and routers all continue to sip energy while plugged in. Individually, it’s small—but dozens of devices together can add up fast. Using power strips with switches or unplugging unused electronics can reduce this invisible drain.
