My husband looked at me like I’d completely lost it when I dragged home that pile of lumber last month.

My Husband Thought I’d Lost My Mind When I Hauled Home a Truckload of Lumber—Until He Saw What I Was Building

Last month, I pulled into our driveway with a messy stack of lumber and a plan I wasn’t ready to explain in detail. My husband stood there with that look—the one that says please tell me this isn’t what I think it is.

“What are you building?” he asked, staring at the boards like they might start multiplying.

“A real outdoor dog house for Max,” I said, already mapping out the best spot along the fence for shade and airflow.

He actually laughed. “For the dog? He has a perfectly good crate inside.”
