A promising NFL prospect, Khyree Jackson, tragically lost his life in a car accident early Saturday morning, just hours after sharing a poignant final post on social media.
Jackson, 24, a cornerback recently drafted by the Minnesota Vikings, was involved in a fatal crash along with his high school teammate, Hazel, who was driving. Both Jackson and Hazel were pronounced dead at the scene. Anthony Lytton Jr., another passenger and teammate, was rushed to the hospital but was later pronounced dead as well.
On Friday, Jackson had shared a heartfelt Instagram carousel featuring moments from his life, including images from Vikings practice and photos of himself enjoying various activities. One of the posts highlighted a contrast between “dreamers” and “doers,” reflecting Jackson’s proactive attitude.
Jackson’s journey began at Fort Scott Community College, and he made significant strides playing for the Oregon Ducks and Alabama Crimson Tide. His standout season in 2023 earned him recognition as one of the best cornerbacks for the Ducks. The Minnesota Vikings selected him in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL draft.
In a statement, the Vikings expressed their deep sorrow: “The news of Khyree Jackson’s passing is heartbreaking. We have reached out to his family to offer our support and are providing counseling for our players, coaches, and staff.”
