A 16-year-old took to Reddit to find out if they were at fault for exposing their father’s infidelity in front of their family. Before jumping into the main story, the teenager described their relationship with their father.
Growing up, the teen and their siblings rarely saw their father because he was often away for work. He spent long hours at his workplace and frequently traveled to other cities, leaving the kids mostly raised by their mother.
The teenager mentioned, “Siblings and I were basically raised only by my Mom, and I’m really close with her.” The teen avoided talking to their father because he only ever criticized their school performance, always urging them to improve their grades or face consequences.
Over time, the teenager noticed their father’s unusual behavior but didn’t suspect anything until they turned 16.
The Discovery
A few months ago, the teenager’s father came home very late, and the teen noticed a faint scent of perfume on him. The teenager didn’t pursue it further until a few days later when they saw a notification on their father’s phone that read, “Last night was amazing. Can’t wait to see you again.” Shocked, the teenager knew what this meant and decided to tell their mother.
Instead of confronting their father or telling their siblings, the teenager informed their mother, expecting her to address it. The mother became emotional but told the teenager not to worry, assuring them that she would handle the situation. The teen decided to leave it at that.
