A Birthday Surprise Turns into a Lifesaving Visit
On my 80th birthday, all I wanted was to see my daughter, so I decided to surprise her by driving over to her place. When she opened the door, she looked a bit uneasy and asked, “Dad, what are you doing here?”
With a smile, I replied, “I just wanted to spend my birthday with you.” But her response took me by surprise. “Dad, you can’t stay. I’ve got a lot going on right now.”
Feeling a little hurt, I offered to wait on the sofa until she was free, but she insisted, “No, Dad, you really need to leave right away.”
As I slowly walked back to my car, I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong. I heard strange noises coming from inside the house, so I peeked through the window and saw two unfamiliar people moving around.
