A woman had been dating her 39-year-old boyfriend for nine months when a recurring issue during their outings finally pushed her to take action. Her boyfriend, a father of two young children, had developed a habit of “forgetting” his wallet whenever they went out to eat, leaving her to foot the bill. After months of tolerating this, she reached her limit and took to Reddit to ask if she was wrong for how she handled the situation, especially since it played out in front of his kids.
In her post, she explained that while she initially didn’t mind paying for meals occasionally, his repeated forgetfulness had become frustrating. Over the last month alone, she had covered the bill multiple times, and the financial strain was starting to get to her.
On one particular evening, after receiving a paycheck from her second part-time job, she reminded her boyfriend to bring his wallet before they went out. He laughed off her reminder, but when they got to the restaurant, his children eagerly ordered pricey meals, and once again, he claimed to have forgotten his wallet.
When she asked him about it, he pretended to be surprised, patting his pockets before admitting that he had left it in another pair of jeans. Fed up with the situation, she decided to gather her things and leave before the food even arrived.
