On a cold, rainy night, Angie sat alone at an empty bus stop, cradling her newborn twins close. “Where do we go now?” she murmured, brushing away warm tears from her babies’ cheeks. She was alone—her parents had passed, and the man she once trusted had abandoned her.
She tensed at a sound nearby, fearing the worst, only to find a stray dog sniffing around. “Just a dog,” she sighed in relief, though her heart felt as heavy as ever.
Her world had turned upside down overnight. Angie never imagined Jake, the man she’d trusted, would abandon her and their newborn daughters just a week after their birth. Memories of her late mother’s advice echoed in her mind. “I should have listened, Mama,” she whispered, remembering her mother’s warning about rushing into marriage.
Five years earlier, she’d fallen for Jake. He was charming and driven—the kind of man she believed would bring her happiness. But when she announced her pregnancy, cracks in their marriage began to show.
“But I just started my business,” Jake protested, shaken by the news. “I’m not ready to be a father yet.” Angie’s heart told her to keep the baby.
When her doctor confirmed she was expecting twins, her joy was mixed with worry, knowing Jake’s reaction. His dismay was immediate. “One child, Angie,” he insisted, barely hiding his frustration. “I can handle one, but not two.” From then on, he grew distant, burying himself in his business.
The day the twins were born, Jake didn’t even visit the hospital. Instead, he sent his driver and maid to bring them home. Angie’s heart broke as he ignored their daughters, eventually issuing her a harsh ultimatum: either give one child up for adoption or leave. Unable to choose, Angie took her children and walked into the night.
