Her rescuer believed euthanasia was the kindest option, and even the vet initially agreed. But as her fate hung in the balance, the head of the rescue center intervened, insisting on a second opinion.
Starfish was taken to another vet, who discovered her condition wasn’t untreatable injuries but “Swimmer Puppy Syndrome,” a rare disorder causing her legs to splay unnaturally. With therapy and care, the vet believed Starfish could recover.
