Cassandra Myers was a nurse living humbly in her family’s old home. Despite being a well-paid profession, much of her earnings went toward paying off her late parents’ debts, leaving her with just enough to make ends meet.
Her quiet neighborhood was home to four elderly sisters in their 80s who lived together next door. Cassandra soon noticed how much they struggled with everyday tasks. Carrying groceries, cleaning, cooking, and managing their home had become difficult for them.
Moved by their situation, Cassandra started helping after her hospital shifts. Whether it was cooking meals, doing dishes, or organizing medications, she made sure the sisters were cared for.
“You’re a blessing, Cassandra,” said Marie, the eldest. “Let us at least pay you for your kindness.”
Cassandra smiled. “No, Marie. I’m just helping because I care. Neighbors take care of each other.”
As time passed, the sisters grew to cherish not only her help but her company. She became their confidant, joining them for meals and laughter despite her tiring shifts.

Clara, one of the sisters, replied, “We wanted to stay together, in our own home. We didn’t want to be separated or surrounded by strangers.”
Mindy, the youngest, added, “We trust you, Cassandra. That’s what matters.”
Cassandra smiled, assuring them, “As long as I’m here, I’ll always help.”
Unfortunately, time took its toll, and the sisters passed away one by one. Cassandra arranged their funerals and cleaned out their home after the last sister’s death.
At the gravesite, a lawyer named Abigail Smith approached her.
“You must be Cassandra,” Abigail said, shaking her hand. “I’ve heard so much about you. Thank you for caring for the sisters.”
Tears welled in Cassandra’s eyes. “I’ll miss them dearly.”
Abigail invited Cassandra to her office the next day, where she revealed the contents of the sisters’ will.
