My Son Brought Home a Drawing of a Family of Four, Then He Introduced Me to His New Sister And I Went Pale

When my five-year-old son, Danny, showed me a crayon drawing of our family with an extra stick figure, I thought it was just another one of his imaginative creations. Danny, with his usual uncontainable enthusiasm, announced, “This is my sister!” and pointed to Clara’s visibly pregnant belly.

My heart skipped a beat. I froze, suddenly realizing what he meant. Miss Clara’s face went white, and she stammered, “Helen… I… this isn’t how I wanted you to find out.”

I felt a wave of nausea rise in my chest. “Find out what?” I demanded, my voice trembling.
