For fifty years, an elderly couple had shared a life filled with laughter, love, and a fair amount of playful mischief. One of those moments came every single morning, without fail.
As the sun peeked through the curtains, the husband would stretch, sit up, and start his day with an exaggerated sigh—followed by an enthusiastic chuckle. His wife, already accustomed to this routine, would roll her eyes and shake her head. “One day,” she teased, “your morning habits are going to catch up with you.”
He always responded with a wink and a grin, dismissing her words with the confidence of a man who believed he had everything under control. She loved that about him—his ability to find joy in the simplest things, even in the predictability of their routine.
Then came Thanksgiving morning. As she bustled around the kitchen, preparing the family’s holiday feast, an idea took shape in her mind. A grin spread across her face as she reached for a small handful of turkey stuffing. Carefully, she tiptoed into their bedroom, where he was still dozing, and with precise movements, she tucked the pieces into the waistband of his pajama pants. Then, with the same skill she had used to pull off countless practical jokes over the years, she slipped back to the kitchen and waited.
The moment came as expected. An hour later, from the bedroom, a surprised yelp rang through the house, breaking the usual morning silence. But instead of his normal laughter, there was an eerie pause. His wife, stirring a pot on the stove, bit her lip to keep from giggling.
