A Lesson in Cleaning Up
When my neighbor—a young woman known for throwing wild parties—knocked on my door, I didn’t expect to be roped into a two-day ordeal. She had to leave town for work and asked if I could clean up the aftermath of her latest chaotic gathering. She promised to pay me, and since extra cash is always welcome, I agreed without hesitation.
What I thought would be a simple favor quickly turned into a grueling task. Trash was everywhere—dirty plates, beer cans, half-eaten pizza, sticky floors. By the time I finished, her place looked spotless. But when she returned, things took an unexpected turn.
I went over to collect my payment, only for her to feign ignorance. “We never had any agreement,” she said dismissively.
