Gene Hackman and Wife Betsy Arakawa Found Dead in Santa Fe Home; Investigation Underway
Legendary actor Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, were found dead in their Santa Fe, New Mexico home on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office. The couple, along with one of their dogs, was discovered after authorities conducted a welfare check. While officials confirmed that there were no immediate signs of foul play, the circumstances surrounding their deaths remain unclear, prompting an ongoing investigation.
The discovery came after neighbors reported that the couple had not been seen for nearly two weeks. Hackman, 95, was found in the mudroom, while Arakawa, 64, was discovered in the bathroom near an open prescription bottle and scattered pills. One of their dogs was also found deceased, while two others were alive inside the home. Authorities have ruled out carbon monoxide poisoning and confirmed that there were no signs of forced entry or struggle.
