Parents forced to pull plug on daughter after sleepover horror

Parents Warn About Dangerous Trend After Losing Their Daughter

Australian parents Andrea and Paul Haynes have shared their heartbreaking story after the tragic loss of their 13-year-old daughter, Esra. They hope to raise awareness about a risky trend known as chroming, which involves inhaling common household substances and can have serious health consequences.

Esra was an active and vibrant young girl, known for her love of sports. She was a co-captain of the Montrose Football Netball Club, a talented BMX rider, and part of a national championship-winning aerobics team. Her bright future was tragically cut short after an incident at a sleepover on March 31.

During the gathering, Esra inhaled aerosol deodorant, which led to a sudden and severe medical emergency. Despite immediate medical attention, she suffered irreversible complications. Her family remained by her side for eight days, holding onto hope, before receiving the devastating news that her condition was not improving.

Paul and Andrea described the unimaginable pain of saying goodbye to their beloved daughter. “We never imagined something like this could happen,” Paul shared. “It has been a heartbreaking time for our entire family and community.”

Determined to prevent similar tragedies, the Haynes family is advocating for more awareness and education about the risks associated with chroming. They emphasize the importance of open conversations between parents and children about safety and decision-making.

“We didn’t know about this before, and we wish we had. If we can help even one family avoid this pain, then sharing our story is worth it,” Paul said.
