She followed with I Was a Teenage Werewolf (1957), a low-budget film that became a massive hit, earning over $2 million at the box office. That same year, she appeared uncredited in Elvis Presley’s Loving You. In 1958, she took top billing in Dragstrip Riot, solidifying her Hollywood legacy.
A Heart for Humanity
Beyond acting, Yvonne devoted her life to helping children. In 1959, she co-founded the nonprofit Childhelp with actress Sara O’Meara, supporting abused, neglected, and at-risk children. Her tireless work earned her five consecutive Nobel Peace Prize nominations between 2000 and 2005. Childhelp shared:

“We honor Yvonne’s life by leaning on the light she shared and the hope she nurtured for children and families. Her legacy of love will never fade.”
