Prince Al-Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal Al Saud, often referred to as the “Sleeping Prince,” has passed away at the age of 36. His life story captured the hearts of many, having remained in a coma for more than two decades following a devastating car accident at the age of 15.
Born in April 1990, Prince Al-Waleed was involved in a serious accident in 2005 while studying in London. The crash resulted in significant brain injuries and internal trauma. He was brought home to Saudi Arabia, where he received care at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh.
Since that day, the prince remained in a prolonged coma. Despite his condition, his family—especially his father, Prince Khaled bin Talal Al Saud—remained by his side, never losing hope. Prince Khaled, a well-known figure within the Saudi royal family and nephew of businessman Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, chose to continue life support in hopes that his son might recover.
Throughout the years, Prince Khaled often decorated his son’s hospital room to mark holidays like Eid and Saudi National Day. He shared updates with the public, and the young prince’s hospital bed became a quiet place of reflection for many visitors, offering prayers and support.
