McGraw openly discussed her failed marriages on “Super Soul Sunday” with Oprah Winfrey, attributing the breakdowns to her inability to express her true self, fearing it would drive her husbands away.
Post-Hollywood, McGraw settled in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in 1994 after a fire damaged her home. There, she enjoys a low-key life, focusing on community service and activism, notably for captive chimpanzees and women’s economic independence. She was named one of the Santa Fe Living Treasures in 2016 for her community efforts.
McGraw maintains a healthy lifestyle, practicing yoga and Pilates, and embraces natural aging, opting to stop coloring her gray hair. Despite a brief return to the stage with Ryan O’Neal in “Love Letters,” she has no plans to resume acting.
Additionally, McGraw has celebrated 31 years of sobriety and has collaborated on a clothing line with Ibu, supporting female artisans. Today, she focuses on living authentically and feeling blessed with her life’s journey.
