Landon Whitley was just 8 years old when tragedy struck on October 19, 1997. An ambulance collided with his family’s car, instantly killing his father.
Landon was critically injured, and rescuers resuscitated him multiple times that day. “I didn’t see what he was yelling at,” Landon’s mother, Julie Kemp, recalled, “but I remember him yelling.”
Initially, rescuers overlooked Landon due to the car’s extensive damage. It was only after they spotted his shoe that they found him and quickly airlifted him to a hospital. There, doctors warned Julie that her son might not survive.
“They told me that if he lived… he would be like an 8-year-old baby,” Julie said. Despite the bleak prognosis, she prayed fervently for her son’s life.
