Heavy Trailer Triggers Multi-Vehicle Crash on Mexico–Querétaro Highway

On Wednesday, November 20, chaos erupted at kilometer 59 of the Mexico–Querétaro Highway near Huehuetoca, State of Mexico, when a heavy trailer lost control and caused a chain-reaction crash.
The runaway vehicle struck a roadside bank before colliding with five cars and a pickup truck, blocking all three lanes and forcing a partial closure that backed up traffic for miles.

Slick Roads and Speed Blamed

Early reports indicate that wet pavement from earlier rain left the road slick and reduced braking power.
Witnesses said the trailer appeared to be moving too fast for the conditions, giving the driver no time to stop.
Investigators are checking for possible brake problems, driver fatigue, or maintenance issues as contributing factors.

Emergency Response

Paramedics arrived within minutes and treated several people for minor injuries.
Fortunately, no fatalities were reported—an unusually positive outcome given the number of vehicles involved.
Rescue teams worked to clear debris and contain potential fuel leaks while police redirected traffic to alternate routes.
