Authorities have released chilling new video footage in the investigation of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, showing the suspected gunman making his escape from the scene at Utah Valley University. The conservative activist, who was in the middle of his “American Comeback Tour,” was gunned down on Wednesday in front of a large audience. Now, investigators are revealing more details about the shooter’s movements and the massive effort underway to bring him to justice.
The video, shared by officials on Thursday, captures the gunman fleeing from the roof of a one-story building overlooking the event. In the footage, the suspect can be seen sprinting across the roof before leaping to the ground and continuing his escape. What stands out most is the composure he maintained: after the jump, he slows to a casual walk, crosses a nearby street, and disappears into a wooded area. It was along this path that investigators later recovered a high-powered rifle believed to be the murder weapon.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox, who has been outspoken about the case, described the shooter as an “evil human being” during a press conference.
