Most mornings for the Terry family in Tennessee follow the same routine: a quick breakfast run, a familiar order, and the start of another busy day. But one ordinary trip to McDonald’s turned into a story that captured hearts across the community—and beyond.
When Stacy Terry and her husband pulled into their neighborhood McDonald’s drive-thru, nothing seemed unusual. They placed their order, received a bag, and drove off. But something felt off—this bag was heavier than usual. At first, Stacy thought maybe they’d just been lucky with extra hash browns. The surprise came miles later when they finally opened it.
Instead of food, they found bundles of cash—thousands of dollars neatly sealed in deposit bags. What was supposed to be a simple breakfast had suddenly become a life-changing dilemma.
The money, as they later discovered, was intended for a bank deposit. Somehow, in the rush of a busy morning, a distracted employee had handed over the wrong bag. For many, the temptation might have been difficult to resist. But for the Terrys, there was no hesitation.
“As soon as I realized what it was, my first instinct was to take it straight back,” Stacy told News 5. “We couldn’t live with ourselves if we kept it.”
