Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi List Their English Home for $30M, Not Even Making it a Year as Farmers

What was once envisioned as a peaceful new chapter for Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi has turned out to be another short-lived real estate venture. The couple, known for their love of architecture and design, has decided to move on from their countryside estate in the U.K.—just one month after settling in.

Their most recent purchase, a 43-acre property in the picturesque village of Swinbrook, Oxfordshire, was acquired in November 2024 for a reported $20 million. Known as Kitesbridge Farm, the estate included a 16,600-square-foot main residence, a two-bedroom guest house, a converted barn-turned-pub, an indoor pool, gym, and extensive grounds.

The property was marketed as a dream retreat, blending historic charm with modern luxury. Ellen and Portia reportedly oversaw a fast-tracked renovation with the help of over 70 contractors, completing a 12–18-month project in under five months. Their goal: to embrace a slower, rural lifestyle in the English countryside.

However, shortly after moving in, the couple realized the property did not meet all of their needs—particularly when it came to accommodating Portia’s horses, which had been brought over from California. Though the estate was stunning, it turned out not to be the long-term home they had imagined.
