Condor Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Italy After Engine Irregularities

Air travel is widely recognized as one of the safest ways to travel, but unexpected events mid-flight can still cause concern for passengers. On August 16, 2025, a Condor Boeing 757 traveling from Corfu, Greece, to Düsseldorf, Germany, was diverted to Brindisi, Italy, after pilots noticed irregularities in one of its engines.

What Happened on Board

The flight, carrying more than 200 passengers, had been in the air for about 40 minutes when crew and passengers reported hearing loud noises and seeing brief flashes from the right-hand engine. The crew quickly acted, following standard safety protocols by shutting down the engine and requesting a diversion to the nearest suitable airport.

Brindisi Airport in southern Italy was chosen, where emergency services were placed on standby. The aircraft landed safely without injuries, and passengers were later transferred to the terminal.
