Harry couldn’t help but smile as he watched his twin boys laugh together in the pediatrician’s waiting room. It was supposed to be a routine check-up—nothing out of the ordinary. But when Dr. Dennison arrived and asked to speak with Harry privately, the lightness of the day shifted. Josh, one of the twins, had shown signs of anemia, prompting the doctor to recommend a round of family blood tests. What Harry hadn’t expected was the doctor’s serious expression—not for the children, but for him.
“Mr. Campbell,” Dr. Dennison said gently, “I need to ask—did you and your wife adopt the twins?”
Harry was taken aback. “No, we didn’t,” he replied, confused.
The doctor hesitated before continuing. “I’m asking because their blood types aren’t compatible with either you or your wife. And… the DNA results confirm something unusual. They’re not your biological sons.”
Harry’s breath caught. Dr. Dennison handed him a folder, and the words on the page hit like a tidal wave: half-siblings. The twins weren’t just not his—they were his half-brothers.
A storm of memories and questions flooded Harry’s mind. He remembered Nancy telling him she was already pregnant when they first got serious. She had said the timing was close, that it had happened early in their relationship. But if the twins were his half-brothers… it pointed to someone else. Someone close.
