Carly was a typical sixteen-year-old, eagerly anticipating prom like many girls her age. But with her family’s financial struggles, the dream of wearing the perfect dress seemed out of reach. Her mother and grandmother had saved just enough to make that dream possible—until an unexpected encounter on the bus forced Carly to choose between her own happiness and helping someone in greater need.
Carly lived in a modest apartment with her mom, Dina, and her grandmother, Holly. Though money was tight, their home was filled with love and warmth. They always found ways to support each other, even during the hardest times, and their bond was unbreakable.
As prom approached, Carly kept her hopes for a beautiful dress quiet. She listened as her friends talked about their glamorous outfits, but deep down, she knew it might not be possible for her. Then one morning, everything changed.
Dina and Holly called Carly into the kitchen, where the scent of fresh coffee filled the air. Their faces were lit with pride and joy.
“We know how important prom is to you,” Dina began, her voice filled with affection. “We’ve managed to save up a little something. It’s not much, but we want you to have something special.”
With a gentle smile, Holly slid an envelope across the table. Inside, Carly found enough money for the dress she had always dreamed of. Tears welled up in her eyes as she looked at her mother and grandmother, who had sacrificed so much for her happiness.
“Thank you,” Carly whispered, overwhelmed with emotion. “I can’t believe you did this for me.”
Excited, Carly boarded the bus that afternoon, holding the money tightly in her hand. She daydreamed about finding the perfect gown for her big night. But as the bus rolled along, her thoughts were interrupted by a commotion.
