Howard University Homecoming Turns Chaotic After Late-Night Shooting
What was meant to be a weekend of school pride and celebration near Howard University quickly turned into a scene of fear and chaos. Around 10:30 p.m., the energy-filled streets near Georgia Avenue — alive with music, laughter, and cheering students — erupted into gunfire, leaving several people injured and the community reeling.
Police confirmed at least four individuals were wounded after an argument near an off-campus party escalated into violence. Witnesses described panicked crowds scrambling for safety as sirens pierced the night. Emergency responders and officers arrived within minutes, securing the scene and assisting victims. Two of the injured are expected to recover, while one remains in critical condition. Authorities are reviewing video footage and interviewing witnesses to identify those responsible.
