Phase Two: Control and Chaos
Locks were changed. The house was emptied. Every trace of his life that had touched mine vanished — furniture to a local shelter, wedding photos discarded, walls stripped of memories. The Uber driver in Toronto didn’t hand him luxury service; the black Amex flashed DECLINED, leaving him humiliated and scrambling in a taxi.
Mark tried to access his stolen fortune, fingers flying across keys, only to see $0.00 staring back. Panic replaced his arrogance.
Phase Three: The Reveal
Then came the final act. On his laptop screen, he didn’t see me in our kitchen. He saw me on a balcony, turquoise waters behind me, oversized sunglasses, vintage Cabernet in hand. Blown-up copies of his secret emails were taped in the background — proof of his corporate misdeeds.
“Hello, Mark,” I said, voice calm, cold. “Enjoy Toronto. Your wardrobe? Donated. Your company? Filing charges tomorrow. I hope it’s very, very cold there.”
The shock was complete. His money gone, his home gone, his control shattered. Elena glanced at him helplessly. And I? I raised my glass, disconnected, and left him with the chaos he had crafted for himself.
He underestimated me. He had assumed the “simple girl” was oblivious. But I was always watching. Always calculating. And now, I was free.
