When Jennifer saw an email inviting her husband, Oliver, to a New Year’s party with a plus-one, her curiosity was piqued. She had no idea this would uncover a betrayal and lead to a dramatic turn of events.
It started innocently. After dinner, Oliver’s laptop pinged with an email while he excused himself. Glancing at the screen, Jennifer read:
“Dear Mr. Oliver, We are thrilled to announce our New Year’s party! Dress code: White Party. You may bring your plus-one (your wife).”
Her brow furrowed. Oliver had always complained about his office’s strict no-guest policy. Why was this different?
When he returned, Jennifer casually asked, “So, your office is throwing a New Year’s party?”
Oliver hesitated but quickly dismissed it. “It’s just work, no guests allowed.” His clipped tone sparked suspicion.
On New Year’s Eve, after Oliver left in a crisp white suit, Jennifer couldn’t shake the feeling something was wrong. She slipped into her own white dress and drove to the venue, a grand hotel alight with celebration.
