Trent’s world turned upside down when he found a note in his daughter Lily’s backpack: “I’m your real dad. Come and see me.” The message left him shaken, his mind racing with confusion and worry. Who could have written such a thing? And what did it mean?
Lily had been distant lately, her once bubbly personality replaced with quiet, withdrawn behavior. Trent couldn’t figure out why, and now, this note made everything more unsettling. His heart ached, not just for himself, but for Lily, who seemed to be carrying a burden too heavy for her young age.
Determined to get to the bottom of it, Trent waited for the day mentioned in the note. He couldn’t let his daughter face this alone. When the day came, he watched from a distance as Lily approached the back of the schoolyard, hesitantly walking toward a man standing by the fence.
Trent’s breath caught when he recognized the man—Jeff, a coworker he barely knew. What was he doing here? As Trent listened, Jeff’s words cut deep. He claimed to be Lily’s real father, telling her that her mother, Kate, had kept it a secret.
Trent’s heart pounded. He stepped forward, confronting Jeff. “What do you think you’re doing? You can’t just show up and tell her this.”
