Lily sat quietly at the piano, her small fingers poised above the keys. The warm glow of the lamp lit her face as she took a deep breath, ready to perform the piece she had practiced for days. From the couch, I watched her with a full heart—a framed photo of us on the piano reminding me how far we had come.
“Take your time, sweetheart,” I said softly. “You’ve got this.”
“I just hope I don’t mess up,” she whispered.
“You’ve worked so hard,” I reassured her. “Just play from your heart.”
She smiled faintly, then began. The notes weren’t perfect, but they were filled with effort, hope, and love. When she finished, I clapped proudly. “That was beautiful. You’re improving every single day.”
“Do you think Grandma and Grandpa will like it?” she asked.
